Bluffton Football shuts out Anderson, 13-0
On Saturday October 27th the Bluffton football team (5-3, 4-2 HCAC) traveled to Anderson University for HCAC play. The Beavers dominated on the defensive side of the football and had 9.5 tackles for loss to go along with four sacks. Offensively, Jason Brown (Napoleon) found his way to the end zone early in the first quarter on a 55 yard touchdown run. Aric Stegall (Hillsboro) added a touchdown in the beginning of the fourth to give the Beavers a 13-0 lead. The defense stayed strong from there and earned their second shutout of the season. Preston Huddleston (Benton Harbor, Mich.) had a big day for the defense with 1.5 sacks and 3 tackles for loss. Bluffton hits the road again on Saturday November 3rd when they travel to Franklin. The game is set to start for a 1:30pm kickoff.
Volleyball Picks splits this week
The Bluffton volleyball (15-13, 5-4 HCAC) dropped a match to rival Defiance College on Wednesday October 24th in a 3-0 sweep. They got back on track when they traveled to Franklin College Friday October 26th defeating the Grizzlies 3-2. For the Beavers, Bethany Behnfeldt (Napoleon) had a huge day with 14 kills. The Beavers swept a double header Saturday October 27th, defeating Roanoke 3-0 and Berea 3-1. Bluffton starts tournament play when they travel to Rose-Hulman Tuesday October 30th; the game is set to start at 7:30pm.
Transylvania shuts out Boys Soccer, 4-0
The Men’s Soccer team traveled to Transylvania Saturday October 27th for their final match of the season. Bluffton struggled to get the offensive side of the ball rolling, while allowing Transylvania to score four goals. The Beavers finished their season with a 2-14 record and winless at 0-8 in HCAC play.
Women’s Soccer falls 3-1 to Transylvania
The Bluffton women’s soccer team traveled to Transylvania Saturday October 27th; in a match they dropped 3-1. The game was the last for the lady Beavers who finished the season at 3-12-1 and 1-6-1 in HCAC play.
Bluffton Cross Country Hosted HCAC Championships
On Saturday October 28th the Bluffton University Nature Preserve played host to the HCAC Championships. Bluffton’s Men’s team finished fifth overall just six points behind fourth place finisher Defiance. On the Women’s side, Bluffton finished in sixth place, behind their senior leader Alison Janzen (Whitewater, Kan./Remington) finished 7th overall.
