The Student Senate donated $75 to BUNA and finalized the placement of student bleachers on the basketball court in the upcoming Sommer Center on Friday, October 12th.
Bluffton University Nutrition Association is hosting its annual spaghetti cup dinner on November 16th at 5 p.m., at First Mennonite Church. All proceeds from dinner sales go to charitable organizations, led by the church. In order for all proceeds to be donated, BUNA strives for its dinner to be completely funded through donations.
BUNA requested $75 from Student Senate to buy parmesan cheese, lemonade, and creamer for the dinner. Senate, however, decided to donate the money from its own funding to help the cause.
Bluffton University is ordering three bleachers for Sommer Center’s basketball arena. The intention is to have an unofficial student section, similar to The Dam in Burky.
Fellow senator Nathan Campbell spoke with both the men’s and women’s basketball teams and both unanimously agreed that the bleachers should be placed under the visitor’s basket. Their argument is that it will distract the opposing team while also supporting our Beavers in the second half.
The often-dreaded Integrated Arts gen-ed course may be eliminated and replaced by electives, according to senator Spencer Genson, who is chair of Senate’s general education committee. Instead of taking an integrated approach to learning about the fine arts, students will now be required to choose a fine arts class that best fits their interests, whether it be theater, music, or the visual arts.
