Volleyball Picks up Pair of Conference Wins

The Bluffton volleyball team (14-12, 4-3 HCAC) picked up a pair of conference wins this past week. On Wednesday, the Beavers traveled to Earlham College where they picked up a dominating 3-0 win. The win was much needed after the ladies saw a disappointing homecoming weekend send their conference record to 2-3. Their dominance continued at the Fightin’ Engineers of Rose-Hulman came to town on Saturday October 22nd. The beavers won the match 3-1 bringing them to games above .500 on the season and a 4-3 conference mark. Bluffton travels to conference rival Defiance College on Wednesday October 24th and then to Franklin College on Friday the 26th. Both matches are slated for a 7pm Start time.

Men’s Soccer loses two at home

The Men’s Soccer team played host to Manchester College and Franklin College this past week. On Wednesday October 17th the Beavers dropped a high scoring affair to the Spartans of Manchester College 6-3. Scoring goals for the beavers were Tyson Spence, T.J. Kline, and Wes Corbin. The Beavers looked to get back on track Saturday as they played host to Franklin College. The Beavers saw the match slip through their grasp as they lost a close on 3-2. John Harbeck and Wes Corbin botch scored goals for the Beavers as both teams struggled through the slop as rain delayed the game for close to an hour. The Beavers return to action Wednesday October 24th when they travel to Defiance College for HCAC play. The game will start at 3:30pm.

Women’s Soccer Drops two

The women’s soccer (3-10-1, 1-4-1 HCAC) played host to Manchester College on Tuesday October 16th. The lady Beavers dropped a close match 1-0 after holding the Spartans scoreless for 64 minutes, Manchester’s Katelyn Barta for the game’s only goal. On Saturday October 20th the Beavers played host to Franklin College. The Beavers scored first as Junior Megan Moreo (Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) capitalized just 39 seconds into the second period, giving Bluffton a 1-0 lead over Franklin. However Franklin bounced back scoring two goals late in the second half as the Grizzlies defeated Bluffton 2-1. Bluffton will be back in action Tuesday October 23rd when they Travel to Defiance, the game is set to start at 3:30 pm.
